Monday's Dose ........................13th December 2010

Famine In The Land

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14.

We've all heard of a famine, and most of us think of a shortage of food. But, there are other famines, unrelated to hunger. The one famine we are seeing in our land today is the 'hearing of the Word'.

The Word is constantly preached in churches, over the television, and radios. And,it is widely available on the Internet, as well as in your own Bible reading. But, we often read the Word, or hear it preached, and we aren't 'hearing' it. We know certain things are in the Bible, and we safe we have faith, but we never act upon the faith that will make the Word work.

If you doubt there is a famine in hearing the Word of God, look around you at most Christians. There are so many oppressed, depressed, poor, and dying. They have knowledge Of the Word, but not the enlightment from the Word by the Holy Spirit. Some hear the Word on Sunday morning and don't hear it again until the next Sunday morning. They never open the Bible and read God's promises and let the Holy Spirit speak to them and their situations. God doesn't want His people oppressed, depressed, poor, or dying. None of us will live forever,  but so many are dying too early. A better knowledge and understanding of God's Word could prevent many of the trials and tribulations Christians go through these days.

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. - Luke 11:28.

When we hear the Word preached, if we turn our minds toward God, He will speak to us concerning that Word. He gives us instructions by which we should conduct our daily lives, If we listen. Many don't wait to hear from God, but go their merry way. God is waiting to clear up this FAMINE in our land, if only we let Him!

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. - Mark 4:20.

Prayer:  Our Loving Heavenly Father, turn our hearts and minds toward you, that we would hear the Word, listen for your voice, and then keep your instructions, that we might build on our faith. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer.  Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray,  Amen."

Have a Blessed Monday and God Bless you.
