Where He Wants Us

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. (9) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.-Genesis 2:8-9

Soon after my patio was poured, I created a potted garden of corral bells and hydrangea. Two Adirondack chairs are on one side of the patio. On the other side is a cedar table with two cedar chairs. The patio door spans the width of this patio, so I can appreciate the entire patio even from inside. It's quite like an extension of my dining room.

I didn't include anything on my patio that I didn't want. Everything is arranged for comfort and visual appeal. When I discovered the pleasure of humming birds, I included feeders for them. The birds, furniture, and plants make up my private sanctuary, my favorite place to be when I'm home relaxing, and a nice place to start my day during the warm seasons.

Sometimes I eat my breakfast with my best china at the cedar table, watching the hummers take turns at the feeders and listening to the world awaken. The setting is a peaceful place for me.

God created a garden for himself apart from heaven, apart from the rest of the world, and he put Adam in it. He did not include anything that he didn't want there. He wanted Adam in it because he loved him and his garden held all things appealing to God.

When I think of how much I love the hummingbirds and corral bells on my patio, I consider how much more God, in his infinite capacity for all things, loved Adam. God didn't create us to watch us from heaven. He did not create us to show us how angry he can be when we shut him out of our lives. He created us to love him. By placing Adam in his garden, God is telling us that we humans are among his favorite things.

Prayer: Almighty God, you really have loved us from the beginning. You really do want us to have the very best life has to offer. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Friday and God Bless you.
