Play With The Hand You've Been Dealt!

Today's Scripture

"Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off." - Proverbs 23:17-18 (KJV).

Thoughts for Today

A lot of us are envious of sinners. We want what other people have and forget what we have ourselves. When you're envious of someone else it is like saying, "I wish I had what they had and not what I have." You have the Lord and it is an insult to the Lord, that you would rather have something else. You've been dealt your hand of cards and you want someone else's hand, but your own hand of cards is the winner. It's like playing poker and you're sitting there with the winning hand, but the person across from you is bluffing you out and you give up your winning hand for their bluff! Once you lose your winning hand you realize what you had and then you are sorry. My point is that other people's live may look great on the outside, but if you have the Lord and they don't then you are much better off than them. You should be thankful for the Lord and His blessings.

If you continue in the fear of the Lord then when the end comes your expectation shall not be cut off. You will live forever, but the people you may have once envied may not be something to envy anymore. They maybe sent away from you and God, for eternity. Is that someone to envy? Of course not! Play with the hand you've been dealt and be content and happy with it! Do not envy others when you have everything! You have a trashy car and see the person next to you driving a fancy car, but as far as you know they may have sold their soul for that car. What does it mean to gain all these nice things, but lose what is important? Things on this earth are temporary, but things of God and of the Spirit are eternal. I want the eternal things. Happy New Year! If you want it to be happy then you must be content with what you have or you'll never be happy.

Prayer: "Our Loving Heaven
ly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to be happy and content with our own lives and not to envy others. May we clearly see the blessings that we have. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Saturday and God Bless you.

  1. An old hymn comes to mind reading your post. "Count your blessings, name them one by one."
