Greatest is Love

Today's Scripture

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. - (1 John 4:7-8) (NKJV).

Thoughts for Today

Doug Nicholas came to India as a missionary. He began to learn a local Indian language and in the course of time becammmeee sick with Tuberculosis. So he had to live in a TB sanatorium. The place was very unclean and dirty. And there were so many patients. With a burden to proclaim the Gospel to the inmates, he started giving gospel tracts.

But nobody was willing to receive the tracts. They refused to receive any books too. As he did not know their language, he could not talk to them either. He was disheartened. Because of the decease he could not go out and preach; and inside he was useless.

He used to cough continuously starting 2:00 am every night. One night he saw an old man trying to get up from his sick bed. As he could not get up, he fell back in his bed crying. Since he was very weak he could not get up and go to the toilet. So he urinated in bed. Because of this, the nurses frowned upon him and the fellow patients scolded him because of the bad smell.

The next night, when Doug woke up and coughed, he again saw the old man trying to get up; he could not and he wept. Then Nicholas got up from his bed, went to the old man, lifted him in his arms like a child, carried him to the bathroom, helped him urinate and took him back to the bed. The old man hugged him, kissed and thanked him.

The next morning, the other patients started accepting and reading the tracts. They asked him various questions about God. During his days in the sanatorium many doctors, nurses and patients were led to the Lord!

The only thing he did was to carry the old man to the toilet. Anybody could have done it; but none came forward, because of lack of love.

He was able to accomplish with sacrificial love what he could not by giving tracts, a long sermon or giving gifts. "[F]or love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."

Shall we bring God's love to those who are craving for true love? One simple humanitarian deed will change their thinking. When you listen to a man's problems, speak some comforting words and pray for him, he will never forget those comforting words in his lifetime. Do you know how much comfort a loving act brings? I was suffering from a severe headache last week. When a sister gave a gentle massage on my head, I felt as if I was touched by an angel! A humane deed will lead those who are in need to God. Shall we act like instruments manifesting God's love? "[E]veryone who loves is born of God and knows God." Amen. Hallelujah.

Love is the greatest
Brotherly Love is the greatest
Even one learnt many languages
(without love) all will be like empty jingles
Never withers, does no evil
Love is the Greatest!

Prayer: "Our loving Heavenly Father, we thank you for saving us, the sinners, with your great love. Give us the grace to love one another. Fill us with love so that we can show Your love to this world through our deeds. Help us realize that even if we give our bodies to be burned, if there is no love, then it is a useless act. With that realization, let us show your love. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Thursday and God Bless you.
