He Has Overcome The World - Tuesday's Dose - 21st February 2017

"The angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them" - (Exodus 14:19).

Thoughts for Today

God allowed the Israelites to leave Egypt. He had heard their cries for help and sent Moses to lead them out of bondage and to the Promised Land. More than likely, when Israel left captivity, they thought they were free and would not have to face fear again.

None of us should face deliverance with the idea that our troubles will begin again within weeks. We need to celebrate God's deliverance, provision, and blessing. However, we also need to recognize trials are a part of living in this world. Thankfully, Jesus has told us to take heart because He has overcome the world. We can move forward confidently knowing God will use our difficulties in this world to train us for even greater blessings.

The people of Israel left Egypt, but they had to face the Red Sea, Pharaoh's army, and 40 years in the desert before they were ready to enter the land God had promised Abraham. Thus, their freedom from Egyptian slavery was their first step toward blessing, but it also was a step toward another faith experience. Would they trust God or cry out in fear? They cried out, even with the Angel of the Lord going before them and a pillar of cloud behind them.

The cloud represented the presence of God's Spirit, and the Angel of the Lord was the pre-incarnate Christ. Yet, Israel was not tuned into God's presence and provision. As they approached the Red Sea and saw Pharaoh's army pursuing them, they became fearful. The physical evidence of God's presence was not enough.

God has never failed to keep His promises. He was faithful to Israel then, and He will be faithful to His children today. We may not have a pillar of fire or a cloud in front of us, but we have the Spirit of God living within us. The same One who was with the Israelites at the crossing of the Red Sea is with you today.

Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, please help me to recognize Your presence in my life. My desire is to live by faith and not by sight. Deliver me from fear and help me to trust You, even when the circumstances look bleak. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Tuesday and God Bless you.
